Canada and India would soon sign an agreement envisaging greater cooperation in the field of entertainment, especially animation films, Canadian High Commissioner Peter H Sutherland said on Friday.

Addressing a meeting of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Chandigarh, he said Indians are involved in a big way in film production in Canada.

"Canada is known for giving very good special effects in animation films. More than 85 per cent of the animation films produced in Hollywood have special effects given by professionals from Canada," he said.

Sutherland said that education and forest were the two other areas where both the countries could explore trading opportunities.

He said a Canadian firm had proposed to set up an aircraft manufacturing unit in Borada.

"Aircraft from Canada have been purchased by Sahara and we expect transfer of high technology from India to Canada," he added.

Sutherland said Canada would open the office of consulate general in Chandigarh to facilitate business promotion and immigration process.
