Cellular service provider BPL Mobile Communications Ltd launched a new pre-paid calling card, an extension of its existing Mobile on the Spot, for which the company is planning to invest over Rs 20 crore (Rs 200 million) in the next three months.
"The new MOTS is being launched to break through the competitive clutter by rolling out innovative services to enhance the product edge in the market place," BPL Mobile Communications chief operating offer (west) and chief business development officer, Krishna Angara told reporters on Tuesday.
Introduction of Family 'N Friends, night calling, national and international roaming are the services offered by the new MOTS, he said adding, these features were earlier available only under post-paid schemes.
The company has also upgraded its Intelligent Network platform to Camel Phase-II, to offer the product and features, he said.
Camel Phase-II is the largest technology platform for IN network services.
Under the Family 'N Friends scheme, BPL would offer free calling to one mobile number at 99 paise per minute, while under the Night Call scheme, the cellular provider would offer subsidised calling at 99 paise per minute between 2200 IST and 0800 IST, he said.
On the investment of Rs 20 crore (Rs 200 million) in the next three months, the COO said the money would be utilised for creating brand awareness and promotional activities, apart from upgrading the existing network and platforms.
