Ahmedabad-based Malibu Plastica, a manufacturer of polycarbonate plastic sheets, is working on redesigning the metal tops of post boxes, which would make it rust-free and weather resistant. This is the first time such a project has been undertaken.
The metal tops would be replaced with polycarbonate sheets, which are transparent, translucent with controlled light transmission and unbreakable.
Malibu Plastica has also supplied polycarbonate sheets to the Railways, holds 70 per cent market share
"The project is still at a preliminary stage but we expect 5000 post boxes with polycarbonate tops to be installed in the metro cities. It will be scaled up across the country in phases," said Janak Parikh, chairman and managing director of Malibu
The metal tops would be replaced with polycarbonate sheets, which are transparent, translucent with controlled light transmission and unbreakable.
