Robert Bosch India Limited is scouting for a second location outside Karnataka to set up a new development centre as part of its 'derisking strategy,' and has plans to double the headcount to 6,000 by 2010, a senior company executives said on Tuesday.
The 100 per cent subsidiary of the Bosch Group, a leading global manufacturer of automotive and industrial technology, consumer goods and building technology, opened a new facility in Bangalore on Tuesday, its biggest development centre outside Germany.
The Koramangala facility here houses 2,200 employees.
Bosch India has three other facilities in Bangalore and the current total strength of employees is 2,900. The company is all set to meet the growing demand for the development of high-end technology in India, its officials said.
Bosch India's managing director Walter Grote told reporters here the plan is to increase employee strength to 6,000 in India by 2010. But, he added that, the expansion depended on the market and customer requirements.
The company is looking out for second location in India -- yet to be identified -- as part of its risk mitigation strategy, and this will be operational this calendar year itself. Bosch India proposes to grow operations in this second location in similar scale to the Bangalore one, Grote said.
He, however, said the company would grow operations in Bangalore as well.
Bosch India provides engineering and non-engineering services to the Bosch World such as electronic control unit development for automotive, industrial, consumer goods and building technology, as well as IT services, process consulting, mechanical engineering, IT design, shared services accounting, and translation/documentation.
