BMW, LG eye Kerala

March 16, 2005 12:28 IST
German auto major BMW, Korean company LG group and Italian firm Liberty have shown interest in investing in Kerala, according to state Industries Minister V K Ibrahim Kunju.

Facilities sought by these companies like land, basic infrastructure and power and tax concessions for opening units were under consideration, the Minister informed the state Assembly on Wednesday.

The government has offered 25 acres of land at Kalamassery near Kochi for the BMW, besides 10 to 50 per cent power subsidy for five years on tapering basis.

Liberty group had sought 100 acres of land at Kakkanad in Kochi to set up a 'fashion city.' The government was considering the possibility of providing the land at half the market rate.

LG group had been informed that the required land would be made available by the Kerala State Industries Development Corporation.

However, no final agreement had been reached with any of these firms, the Minister added.
