Now, medical transcription for the blind

The company launched the course in association with the Ramakrishna Mission, Narendrapur near Kolkata, offering free training for the visually impaired.

Transtek, which has successfully trained over 1,000 MT students in the last five years, would start with five blind students of the Blind Boys Academy, Narendrapur.

Speaking on the occasion, Transtek managing director Sudarshan Bagri said the company would provide all study material, software, MT faculty to run the programme while R K Mission, Narendrapur would offer necessary aids including its computer laboratory for the six-month course.

Bagri said the MT industry, though expanding at a significant rate, was suffering from lack of skilled manpower.

West Bengal IT secretary G D Gautama, present on the occasion, said the state, having about 5.4 per cent share of national IT revenue, was witnessing expansion of companies like Cognizant, ITC Infotech, Wipro and others.
