Now, computerised electric blankets

Amritsar based-Medico Pharmaceutical Processors is all set to launch computerised electric blankets, known to be first of its kind in India.

These blankets, once set, can automatically adjust the required temperature unlike the other electrical blankets.

Besides, they are shock-proof and water-proof. Also, very soon, the company is going to launch open and closed electrical foot warmers for diabetic patients, electrical mittens and jackets, which can be used by two wheeler riders.

The company had also applied for CE (Compiled to European standards) mark and promoters feel that once it is allotted, it would add digital growth in sale of blankets.

Already the company is into manufacturing of electrical blankets under brand name, 'Aristocrat' for the past 25 years.

Talking to the Business Standard, Dinesh Tuteja of Medico Pharmaceutical Processors said, "These blankets have teflon coated wires knitted in cloth, fitted with memory chip and Polyster filled joints. Although we are into manufacturing of these blankets, since long time but the demand has risen in past five years."

Commenting upon the competition he added that it is the low price and durability of the product, which make us unique. He said that the imported and branded patient warming blanket system costs around 4.5 lakhs while our product cost only 1.50 lakhs.

Their clientele list includes Afghanistan, Netherlands, Canada, and Russia. Having already supplied electric blankets to Indian army, hospitals and hotels, the company is targeting to export it to Pakistan.

Already he had handed over samples worth Rs 1 lakh to the Pakistani delegates, which visited the city during IPEX-2005.

Tuteja added that this electric blanket is best for relief of winter ailments, like arthritis, gout, asthama, back ache, body ache, low blood pressure etc and a boon for the senior citizens.

He added further that it supplements body heat and does not affect humidity unlike heater or heat convectors. Besides it provides the aristocratic comfort, which was till recently limited to European and other advanced countries only.''

The electric blanket works on 110/220V AC and consumes about 35w power only and operational cost is less than 1 per cent than heat convector. The blanket is spread under the bed sheet.

Besides, electrical blankets the company also produces other electric health aids like backache belt knee caps collar & pillow for spondylitis general-purpose body warmer.

Talking about future plans, Tuteja added that very soon the company would launch chemicals like Jewellery and Jem polish besides this product.
