Competition Bill gets Parliamentary nod

Parliament on Friday approved the long-awaited Competition Bill paving the way for setting up the Competition Commission of India replacing the Monopoly and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission.

The Bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha by a voice vote.

Earlier, it had been passed by the Lok Sabha, incorporating some of the recommendations made by the Parliamentary Standing Committee.
