Bihar post offices sold 41 kg gold coins in the last fiscal, topping the nation in sale of the yellow metal from post offices, Bihar Post Master General G Bhuyan said on Wednesday.
Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra post offices followed Bihar, he said.
In the 2011-12 fiscal year, Tamil Nadu had topped the nation in sale of gold coins.
Considering the boom in sale of gold coins, the Postal department has decided to sell gold coins from seven more post offices in Bihar from the next fiscal, besides the 45
existing ones, Bhuyan said.
The seven new post offices would be Forbesganj, Jogbani, Sonepur, Sheohar, Dalsingsarai, Ekma and Mashrukh.
Within the state, GPO Patna topped the list followed by Bankipore post office in the state capital and Bhagalpur, post office, he said.
