Bharti to cut tariff from February 1

January 06, 2005 15:24 IST

Telecom player Bharti on Thursday said it would pass on the full benefits of the cut in Access Deficit Charge to its subscribers from February 1, when the new regime comes into effect.

"Benefits of ADC rate cut would be passed on 100 per cent to the customers. A major reduction has been made in the ADC on outgoing international calls, so the benefit there will also be passed on to the customers," Bharti Chairman Sunil Mittal told reporters in New Delhi on Thursday.

On the other hand, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, which was opposing any cut in the ADC, seemed satisfied with the methodology adopted by TRAI as it may not 'upset' the corporation's plans.

"We have yet to see the full order of TRAI. But the assumption on which this reduction has been made should not affect the total quantum of ADC to us," BSNL CMD A K Sinha said.
