The West Bengal government on Friday warned against any attempt to delay payment of salary to any state government employee by a nationalised bank despite the amount being deposited through the electronic clearance system.
State finance minister Amit Mitra said that attempts were being made to blame the government for not depositing the salary amount of employees 'which is totally incorrect as deposit is done by the first day
of a month as announced by the state government'.
Mitra said that for the first time, the state government's policy of paying salary through the electronic clearance system functioned perfectly.
He alleged that attempts were being made by any nationalised bank or any political force to put the blame on the government by delaying payment to state employees.
Mitra warned that the state government would blacklist those banks which would resort to delay tactics in payment even after clearance of the same.
