Bajaj Electricals ties up with US co

May 04, 2005 17:01 IST

Bajaj Electricals Ltd has entered into a tie-up with US-based construction equipment company Multiquip for outsourcing and marketing mobile light towers and globugs in India.

"We are planning to outsource nighthawk mobile light towers, mobile light towers, welders and globugs light towers from MQ," Bajaj Electricals chairman and managing director Shekhar Bajaj told PTI in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The mobile light towers cost around Rs 600,000 and the company is expecting to sell over 250 to 400 pieces in next three years, Bajaj said.

"With the construction industry witnessing a boom time, India is a potential market for mobile light towers. The MQ products would be marketed and serviced through Bajaj Electricals' existing sales network in India," MQ India chairman and managing director Narinder Jit Singh said.

Asked about manufacturing mobile light towers in India, Bajaj said the company would be focussing on importing the light towers from MQ for the next two years.

"However, a clause in the tie-up agreement enables us to manufacture mobile light towers in India with the help of technological assistance from MQ in the third year of cooperation," he said.
