With Ayurveda gaining prominence in Israel, various institutions providing related courses are establishing their presence in the country.

The International Academy of Ayurveda, an organisation which propagates the holistic treatment system in foreign countries is likely to open a branch in Israel soon, its vice chairman, Salil Juglekar indicated during his recent visit to the country.

Another institute, Israel Centre for Ayurveda , currently has an Ayurvedic clinic and offers life style workshops based on the traditional Indian system of medicine.

The Reidman International College for Complementary Medicine here has also started a four-year comprehensive Ayurvedic programme.

"The college has signed an agreement with the Gujarat Ayurveda University  whose
faculty would be coming and teaching in Israel and will award a certificate to the Israeli students after conducting practical training for them in India", the institutes President, Sally Reidman, said.

The head of the Panchkarma department at the GAU, Prof Srinivas Acharya, conducted a series of consultancy lectures for Ayurveda enthusiasts in Israel last week.

"The response was overwhelming and I could feel a great appreciation for this holistic medicine form in Israel", Acharya told PTI.

Indian Ambassador to Israel, Arun Kumar Singh, who attended some of the Ayurveda workshops said, "It is a part of the continuing engagement between the two countries."
