General Motors India on Thursday posted 4.32 per cent decline in sales at 8,901 units in February. The company had sold 9,303 units in the same month of 2010, General Motors India said in a statement.
"The sales were not on the expected lines as the market continues to be sluggish. High interest rates, hike in fuel prices, commodity prices, growing inflation and negative market sentiments continue to put a lot of pressure on the automobile market," GM India Vice-President
P Balendran said.
The company sold 1,328 units of small car Spark, 4,684 units of hatchback Beat, 90 units of entry-level sedan Aveo, 273 units of mid-sized sedan Optra and 537 units of luxury sedan Cruze last month.
It also sold 1,964 units of multi-purpose vehicle Tavera and 25 units of sports utility vehicle Captiva during the month.
