Vying for a slot among the top three network solution vendors in India, the United States-based Allied Telesyn on Wednesday appointed a country manager and said it aims to generate 5 per cent of its Asia Pacific revenue from India in the next three years.

"Our goal is to be one of the top three network solutions providers in the next three years and capture 10 per cent of the market in five years. From a minuscule revenue generation at present from India, we want India to contribute five per cent of Asia Pacific revenue in the next three years," Fung Ming Yang, deputy managing director, Allied Telesyn (Asia), told newspersons in New Delhi.

He said the company would increase its strength in India by adding about 10 more engineers to in the next three months besides setting up an office in Bangalore. It is also looking at opening an office in Kolkata, in addition to its offices in Delhi and Mumbai.

Announcing its direct presence in India, the company appointed Rajesh Sahore as the new country head who is expected to direct the company to have 40 per cent revenue from solutions and 60 per cent from channel.

The current business model is 10 per cent from solutions from customers like Comsat Max, Reliance's IPCL, Sony Entertainment Television and HECL.

The direct presence will help the company to be more aggressive on the Indian market in terms of sales, support and marketing, from the earlier strategy of operating through channel partners.
