The operation of Alliance Air's small ATR-42 aircraft to North-East remained suspended for the second day on Wednesday with its pilots abstaining from duty to protest the non-fulfillment of their pending demands.

The talks to break the impasse on Tuesday had remained inconclusive and the Alliance Air management expected the agitating pilots to come to the negotiating table today, an AA source said.

There were a total of six AA flights to different destinations in the North East by ATR-42 aircraft of which two could not be operated in the morning due to absence of pilots.

But the management was working on a contingency plan to enable the affected passengers reach their destinations, the source said. The fate of the remaining flights during the day would depend on the outcome of the talks.

The pilots of the smaller ATR-42 aircraft operated by AA mainly to North-East had decided to stay away from duty on Monday to press their demands.

The situation had prompted a top official to rush here from New Delhi to hold talks with the agitating pilots but the deadlock could not be broken despite a lengthy meeting on Tuesday.

The pilots had left the negotiating table promising to come back after discussions among themselves.
