Indian Idol: Audition on cell phone now

September 22, 2005 20:27 IST

Airtel has introduced audition for the popular interactive TV programme 'Indian Idol' on its mobile service, where an aspirant singer has to call a number to sing a song and participate in the competition.

This is the first time ever in the world that auditions for an entertainment program have been invited on the mobile phone, the company said in a release.

This marks the beginning of a new era in mobile-based entertainment. Airtel has launched a number of innovative services in the past including exclusive access to 'KBC 2' and the premier of the world's first full-length movie on the phone.

Airtel customers can dial 646 and record a song in their voice, anytime and from anywhere. More importantly, they can record the song as many times as they want, till they are satisfied with their performance. More than one customer can use the same mobile phone to register their entries.
