AirTel has launched a voice-based railway enquiry system both for its pre-paid and post-paid customers.

This would enable them to avail information including reservation status, berth availability and train schedules.

AirTel subscribers can avail the service by dialing 126 for information services and 127 for PNR status, along with arrivals and departures of trains, the company release said on Monday.

"The service enables customers to access all railway information on their mobiles, giving them the freedom from standing in long queues," Jayant Khosla, Chief Executive Officer, Bharti Cellular said.

Bharti Cellular operates AirTel brand of mobile services. The service is available in Mumbai on a 24X7 basis and Airtel plans to roll out in other cities as well, he added.
