Singapore's budget airline Tiger Airways announced on Tuesday that it had bagged approval to fly between Singapore and six Indian cities. Consequently the airlines will soon start flights to Chennai, Cochin, Goa, Trivandrum, Kolkata and Kozikhode.

Tiger Airways is the only low-cost carrier from Singapore to get such an approval from the Indian government.

According to the airline, the flight routes for the six destinations are being planned and the carrier is in talks with the respective airports.

Tiger Airways, which had to reduce its flight operations to Philippines from 14 to nine due to a change in that country's "open skies" policy is looking to India to augment its business.
