American Airlines, the world's largest airline, on Friday, signed a code-share agreement with Air Sahara for its daily nonstop service between Chicago O'Hare International Airport and New Delhi. The formal agreement was signed between Athar Khan, managing director (Asia Pacific, American Airlines) and K Damodaran, sr vice-president (sales), Air Sahara.
Starting November 17, customers can travel non-stop from Delhi to Chicago on the American Airlines Boeing 777, at special promotional fares starting from Rs. 38,000 round-trip.
The special fares will be applicable for departure between November 17-February 28, 2006 and the travel must be completed by March 31, 2006. The special fares will not be applicable for departures between December 16, 2005-January 15, 2006.
To cater to the varied needs of customers, American Airlines will offer a complete choice of three classes -- First Class, Business Class and Economy Class. To avail of this promotional fare, customers can contact their nearest travel agent or the American Airlines office.
American Airlines will also offer connectivity to passengers flying to 125 cities including Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Columbus, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Miami, New York, Montreal, Orlando, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Raleigh / Durham, Washington and Toronto.
The 16-hour direct flight will significantly reduce travel time, from the current average travel time of 20 hours.
Subject to Government approval, American Airlines will place its "AA" flight code on Air Sahara flights and Air Sahara will place its "S2" code on American's new service to Chicago and beyond destinations within the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
