Aditya Puri continues to be the highest paid bank CEO

Puri earned a salary of Rs 7.39 crore in FY15, up 21.74% from last year

Aditya Puri, the managing director of HDFC Bank, continues to be the highest paid bank chief in the country.

In FY15, Puri earned a salary of Rs 7.39 crore compared to Rs 6.07 crore last year, up 21.74 per cent.

Puri’s current term was supposed to come to an end in October this year. However, the board has extended Puri's tenure for five more years. The move comes after Reserve Bank of India (RBI) increased the maximum age limit for private bank chiefs to 70 in September last year.

 

In FY15, Chanda Kochhar, MD and chief executive officer of ICICI Bank - the largest private sector lender in the country - drew a salary Rs 5.85 crore, up 12 per cent compared to her remuneration of Rs 5.23 crore in FY14.

In the last financial year, ICICI Bank’s net profit inched up to Rs 11,175 crore, 14 per cent more than the same period last year.

Shikha Sharma, the MD & CEO of Axis Bank got a salary hike of about 11.20 per cent in FY15 to draw Rs 4.17 crore. In FY14, Sharma had drawn a salary of Rs 3.75 crore.

 

In the same time, the bank reported a 18.34 per cent growth in net profit to Rs 7,357.82 crore from Rs 6,217.67 crore in the same period a year ago. In addition to her salary, Sharma is also entitled to retirement benefits like provident fund, gratuity and superannuation, which are already included in Puri’s and Kochhar’s salary.
