The Indian advertising industry makes a comeback among the top 25 countries doing outstanding advertising, according to The Gunn Report, a comprehensive listing of most creative advertising efforts from around the world.

At number 21, Indian advertising has entered the list for the fourth time in the eight years that the report has been in existence.

However, the report, which works on a simple idea of combining winner lists from the top advertising shows around the world, is bullish on India and its oft-compared neighbour, China.

According to the report, 'Neither China and India will be out of the Top 25 ever again as wonderful agencies are coming together in these two markets and wonderful work is being done'.

Among the Indian ad agencies, JWT's Levi's Slim Jeans campaign and Ogilvy's, IAPA Adoption Awareness ads feature among the top 50 print ad campaigns in the world.

Globally JWT has jumped ahead from 9th spot to 4th (the largest jump in points ever seen in the report's eight-year history).

The report states that JWT offices in Argentina, Thailand, Malaysia, The Philippines, Italy, Spain, Puerto Rico, Mexico City and India have contributed to this jump.

Ogilvy's Mumbai office too gets a mention in the agency's global rankings. However, the most awarded agency network across the globe was BBDO Worldwide, followed by DDB Worldwide and TBWA. Leo Burnett stood at the 5th position.

Among the top advertising countries, the UK topped the list as the most awarded country in the world, dethroning the US which has always held the top position ever since The Gunn Report was started.

Established in 1999, The Gunn Report combines the winners' lists from all of the major advertising award contests in the world (national, regional and global, the world's top 36 shows for TV and top 22 shows for Print), thus establishing the annual worldwide league tables for the advertising industry.
