The government for the first time on Wednesday gave approval for publication of facsimile editions of foreign newspapers by allowing The Wall Street Journal and The Wall Street Journal Asia to publish in India.

The Information and Broadcasting Ministry said on Wednesday the newspapers will be brought out by Wall Street Journal India Publishing Private limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dow Jones and Company Inc, USA.

Earlier, the government had granted permission for Foreign Direct Investment worth Rs 2.16 crore (Rs 21.6 million), it said.
