After completing various tests last month, the standard version of Nano, Tata Motors' [Get Quote] Rs 1 lakh (Rs 100,000) small car, is ready for launch at the car maker's facility at Pantnagar in Uttarakhand.
"Our various tests have been completed and the Nano is ready for the launch. We can't tell you about the launch. But from our side, everything is ready," a company executive said.
The mileage of the small car is being projected between 17 to 20 km per litre which, according to the executive, "would be better than the Maruti [Get Quote] car."
Last month, Tata Motors had conducted various test runs of Nano on the hilly, serpentine roads of Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile, government officials in Dehra Dun claimed the company has given a commitment to Uttarakhand Chief Minister B C Khanduri that it would roll out the first Nano from the state itself.
For the expansion purpose, the company was allotted nearly 45 acres at Pantnagar by the state government recently in the hope that the small car would be launched from the hilly state.
In addition to 45 acres, the chief minister has also assured the company executives that their other demands would also be considered.
