Orix Auto Infrastructure Services Limited, which launched the 'Delhi Cab' service last year will shortly start a taxi service in Mumbai.

"We will soon launch the service in Mumbai and Bangalore. We are also considering adding Pune and Ahmedabad in our network later," OAIS Senior Vice President R Venkataraman told PTI.

OAIS would start the taxi service in Mumbai and Bangalore with 100 cars each and expand the fleet in phases as per instructions by the local authorities in the two metros.

"We will have Tata's Indigo Marina and Maruti's [Get Quote] Versa vehicles in the fleet for the two metros," Venkataraman said.

The investment for launching the taxis in Mumbai and Bangalore would be Rs 10-12 crore (Rs 100-Rs 120 million).

OAIS, which is a joint venture between Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services Ltd and ORIX Corporation of Japan, recently started offering its taxi services in Kolkata and Hyderabad with a 100 vehicles each.

The service in the national capital was started with a fleet of 100 cars, which has expanded to about 350 vehicles now.

The taxis have 24x7 connectivity through GPRS which enables the driver and passengers with voice and data connectivity.

OAIS conducts background check for all drivers before hiring and provides on-ground training in dealing with possible crisis situations.
