Amid the global meltdown and downsizing of staff by several firms, leading biotechnology firm Biocon [Get Quote] on Thursday said it plans to hire around 200 more people in this fiscal.

"We will continue to hire people as our growing business demands manpower," CMD Kiran Mazumdar Shaw told reporters while announcing the company's half-yearly results.

With the company continuing to grow and expand, Shaw said "We do not see any downsizing taking place."

She said the hiring of staff by the company was in 'line with what we require'.

The company currently has over 3,000 employees and is considered to be the seventh largest global player in the biotechnology sector.
