On June 27, 2008, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates will step down from the helm of affairs of the world's largest software company that he co-founded in 1975.

After building a software empire with businesses across the globe, Gates is now planning to devote his entire time for philanthropic activities.

Gates plans to spend more time on his global health and education initiatives at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
