Travelling by Air India and Jet Airways [Get Quote] will be costlier from Tuesday with both the airlines hiking fuel surcharge by Rs 300-550 following an increase in the aviation turbine fuel prices.

The fuel surcharge for travel distance up to 750 km (short haul) would go up by Rs 300, while for the travel beyond 750 km, it would be Rs 550.

While the national air carrier announced its decision on May 31, the private air carrier, Jet Airways announced it on Monday.

With the increase, a passenger would be charged Rs 2,250 as fuel surcharge for a distance up to 750 km, and for beyond 750 km, it would be Rs 2,900, a Jet Airways spokesperson told PTI.
