India's business behemoth Tata Group has joined a global corporate campaign, promoted by World Economic Forum to make collaborative efforts to strengthen public governance framework, as a core element of its approach to corporate citizenship.

Tata Industries' Managing Director Kishor A Chaukar, signed the statement on behalf of the group. It was also signed by 13 other companies including Microsoft, Pakistan State Oil Company, Coca-Cola Company, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

"Over the past 18 months this project has attempted to improve understanding of the business case for improved public governance and provide concrete guidance on how businesses can engage in public-private efforts," said Richard Samans, Managing Director, World Economic Forum.

The World Economic Forum, signatory companies and the WEF's partner companies will be exploring forward action to advance the cause, share learning and looking for opportunities to translate the leadership statement into action, said a WEF statement.
