Rs 7300 cr for Drinking Water Mission

As the Finance Minister P Chidambaram presented the Union Budget for 2008-09 in the Lok Sabha on Friday, he announced an increase in the allocation for Rajiv Gandhi Drinking Water Mission to Rs 7,300 crore. He also allocated Rs 200 crore for potable water in schools.

While, Rs 300 crore are to be set aside for desalination plant in Chennai for drinking water.
