As the Railway Budget for 2008-09 is being presented in Parliament, logistics and engineering companies have gained as much as four per cent in afternoon trading on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Among the gainers were state-run entities Bharat Earth Movers Ltd [Get Quote], Container Corporation of India [Get Quote] Ltd, K K Birla Group firm Texmaco and rail infrastructure developing firm Kalindee Rail Nirman Engineers Ltd.
BEML rose 3.63 per cent to Rs 1,155, while Container Corporation of India was up 0.52 per cent at Rs 1,724, Texmaco nearly three per cent to Rs 1,632, and Kernex Microsystems India 3.40 per cent to Rs 216.05.
Kalindee Rail Nirman Engineers Ltd gained 2.78 per cent to Rs 498, and Kolkata-based engineering firm Stone India Ltd [Get Quote] jumped 4.31 per cent to Rs 132.
Logistics firm Gateway Distriparks Ltd [Get Quote] rose 4.41 per cent to Rs 114.80, while Titagarh Industries Ltd [Get Quote] soared about five per cent to Rs 36.10.
