Of pickles, Rs 6 crore and Tihar Jail

Tihar, south Asia's largest prison, expects the earnings from the sales of goods made by inmates to double this financial year, touching Rs 6 crore (Rs 60 million) mark.

Tihar Factory produces bakery items, pickles, pottery and furniture and the goods are sold to schools and government offices, besides to the general public.

"We hope that the income from the sale of goods prepared by the inmates will double in this fiscal compared to last year," Director General (Prisons) B K Gupta said.
