Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur: 3,200 mt
Earlier, the Nagpur airport was called the Sonegaon Airport. However, ever since it attained international airport status, it was renamed after the father of the Indian Constitution, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
The airport, located centrally, facilitates easy connectivity to various Indian cities, especially the metros. The runway at the airport is 3,200 mt long.
The airport has been undergoing constant upgradation and is now as ritzy as any other in India. The airport offers all the passenger amenities, like a duty free shop, Internet cafe, snack bars, etc.
The Nagpur airport has come into the limelight also because of a massive multi-modal international cargo hub project that is coming up near the city. Once the modernisation plan at the airport is complete, Nagpur airport will be able to handle 14 million passengers annually.
