IT major Infosys Technologies Ltd [Get Quote] is not seeing any trend towards downward pressure on pricing by clients, its CEO and managing director S Gopalakrishnan said on Wednesday.

"We are not seeing any trend towards driving down pricing", Gopalakrishnan told reporters in response to questions on the sidelines of a press conference of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE).

He said pricing pressure by some clients is only occasional and sporadic in nature, adding, the Nasdaq-listed, Bangalore-headquartered firm is not seeing any trend towards downward pressure on pricing.

Gopalakrishnan said the company is pursuing opportunities with existing and new clients. "Of course, we need to accelerate growth with new clients", he said. Infosys added 49 new clients in the April-June 2008 quarter.

Speaking in general terms on the business environment, he said sentiments on the macro level continue to be challenging and not positive.

The environment continues to be challenging, Gopalakrishnan said, adding, there is uncertainty over when exactly the turnaround would happen.
