Maruti [Get Quote] has offered discounts ranging from Rs 5,000 to 35,000 across various models. The discount is on Maruti 800, Omni, Alto, Esteem, Versa and on the petrol models of WagonR, Swift.

No discounts have been given on Swift diesel and SX4.

The move may be seen as a way to avoid any dip in their June sale numbers. Adhik mahina, which falls this month, is seen as the reason for these discounts. It comes once every three years and is considered inauspicious to buy any new products. The company is giving discounts during that period to trigger June sales.

Maruti will shut down all plants for maintenance from June 17-24, but dealer despatches will not be affected by the shutdown.
