Special train tickets for Mumbai tourists

"Thousands of people come to Mumbai from outside for tourism and various other purposes. For the benefit of such people, we have decided to issue tourist tickets valid for one, three and five days on the Mumbai Suburban Service, as a pilot project," said Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, while announcing the Railway Budget for 2007-08.

Such ticket holders will be able to travel any number of times between stations on the suburban sections of central and western railway of Mumbai.

"As a result of this, passengers will not have to stand in a queue again and again to buy tickets," he added. The scheme of booking e-ticket will be through the Internet.
