IIM-A grad gets record salary

Indian IMA student Sameer Nigam has bagged a record Rs16 lakh offer, the highest annual salary package, from GenPact in the lateral placement category.

The 30-year-old son of an IAS officer is an mechanical engineering graduate from Indian Institute of Technolgy,  Kanpur, specialising in laser technology.

Sameer has worked for six years before he joined IIMA, partly with Tata Consultancy Services in a foreign posting.

Lateral placements are job offers accepted by IIMA students who haves more than 18 months work experience. These are usually finalised before the actual placements, which take place around January while students will pass out in June.

The highest offer in the lateral placement category was 14.5 lakh last year.
