Maruti Udyog, the country's biggest carmaker, will raise prices by up to Rs 12,000 from January next year across its model range.
The company, which had last raised prices in August this year, due to increase in freight and input costs, has decided to go in for another revision and informed its dealers of the same, market and dealer sources said.
Maruti has sent letters to its dealers regarding the hike in prices from next month, but has not disclosed the exact quantum of price increase each model will attract.
The company has said it will go for a plant maintenance shutdown from December 24-31 and advised dealers to plan their wholesales from the factory in such a way that they do not face a stock-out situation for the stock at old price.
Also, it asked dealers to make sure there were no complaints on account of vehicles booked by them but not delivered.
The new prices will be applicable on all dispatches from the date of announcement of actual price increase and there would be no price protection for pending orders, the company has said.
