The country's biggest car manufacturer, Maruti Udyog [Get Quote], reported a 20.7 per cent increase in domestic sales during November with sales of 52,574 vehicles as compared to 43,568 vehicles in the same month last year. The company's exports were, however, down 35.7 per cent at 2,459 vehicles as against 3,823 vehicles in November last year.
The total sales during the month, grew 16.1 per cent to 55,033 vehicles as compared to 47,391 vehicles in the year ago period, a company statement said.
Sales of the entry level Maruti 800 during November, dipped 18.3 per cent at 6,040 units as against 7,397 units in the same period last year.
The A2 segment comprising of Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift rose 32.3 per cent at 37,060 vehicles as compared to 28,019 vehicles last year.
The company said sales in A3 segment including Baleno, Esteem declined 14.5 per cent at 2,083 vehicles as against 2,437 vehicles a year ago.
The consolidated domestic sales this financial year, till November, improved 17.1 per cent at 3,95,090 vehicles as against 3,37,512 vehicles in the corresponding period a year ago.
Exports during the period under review were, however, down 4.6 per cent at 22,737 vehicles as compared to 23,831 vehicles a year ago.
