IIM-B to hike fees on par with IIM-A

April 03, 2006 22:30 IST
The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore will also hike fees for its flagship two-year post-graduate programme course from this academic year onwards.

The board of governors of IIM-B is said to have taken a decision in this regard at their meeting held just before the convocation on March 28. According to sources, the IIM-B management is likely to effect a 16 per cent increase in its course fee from the present Rs 150,000 per year to Rs 175,000 per year for its two-year MBA programme.

However, an official announcement in this connection is yet to be made by the board as the director of IIM-B Prakash Apte is currently out of station. Once he returns to Bangalore, the announcement will be made, sources told Business Standard, on Monday.

"There will be uniformity in the fee structure. Our fees will be almost on par with that of IIM Ahmedabad," the sources said.

Apte had recently told reporters that the course fee will be hiked from the next academic year. IIM-B has also proposed to raise its intake from the current level of 250 students to 280 in 2006, and to 300 in 2007.
