IIM-A fee hike decision on Sunday

April 01, 2006 17:02 IST

The issue of fee hike is expected to top the agenda, when the board of directors of Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad meets on Sunday.

The board, which will meet under the chairmanship of Infosys chief N R Narayana Murthy, is expected to deliberate on the issue of fee hike for its post-graduate programme, official sources said in Ahmedabad.

The matter is expected to come up for discussions at IIM-A as other IIMs including Bangalore have decided to hike their annual fees for the post-graduate programme, sources at IIM-A said.

However, IIM-A director Bakul Dholakia was non-committal on the issue. "We have not made a decision on the fee hike as yet," Dholakia told PTI.

"I cannot say at this stage whether we will hike the fees. Any matter related to fee hike can be known after the board meeting concludes tomorrow," he said.

At present IIM-A incurs Rs 350,000 as expenses on each student of the post-graduate programme. Of this amount the institute charges Rs 150,000 as fees from the students while a large part of the expenses is recovered from companies who come in for the annual campus placements.
