RBI to issue new Rs 100 notes

The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue Rs 100 denomination bank notes with inset letter 'R' on numbering panel with some additional security features.

While some of the security features of the existing Mahatma Gandhi series have been retained, some have been modified and a few new security features have been added, RBI said in a release.

The new series 2005 bank notes will remain the same size and there is no change in the design of the notes both at the back and front.

In the new series, portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, RBI seal, Ashoka Pillar Emblem, RBI Governor's signature and identification mark have been made more prominent for the visually impaired.
