Strike loss marginal: FM

September 29, 2005 15:06 IST
The government on Thursday said the loss on account of the one-day strike called by the central trade unions would be 'marginal', though it has caused inconvenience to the public.

"There will be some inconvenience to the people going to banks or insurance companies. But we will do our best to see that the inconvenience is not there", Finance Minister P Chidambaram said after a cabinet meeting.

On losses due to the strike, he said though there may be a marginal loss, it would be difficult to estimate the level of loss.

In reply to a query on whether there was any Supreme Court ruling against the strikes, Chidambaram said he was not aware of any directive in this regard by the apex court.
