Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Monday said the Income Tax department was scrutinising records of those who have not been filing and stopped filing IT returns.After filing his IT returns in Chennai, he said there were many top IT filers, who had stopped filing tax returns after three or four years and others who have not been filing at all.
"They are under scrutiny of the income tax department," the finance minister said. Responding to another question, Chidambaram said Foreign Institutional Investors are here to stay."
A large amount of money from foreign investors from Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong and Middle east are waiting to come to India," he added.
