Hill and Associates, an international risk management and business intelligence firm, released a study on employee perceptions of working environments in the outsourcing business in Bangalore on Friday.
The survey was conducted among 400 ITeS employees, across cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore and covered Indian and MNC outsourced service providers and captive units. The study was released during a workshop on 'Employee Productivity and Retention Challenges for Outsourcing Businesses'.
"There are several unaddressed reasons for employees leaving. These include dissatisfaction with job content and lack of growth. These are more often than not caused by unmet expectations, an aspirational mismatch and physiological problems," said Ashish Sonal, country manager, Hill and Associates.
According to him, one of the biggest reasons for employees quitting was the huge expectations being created by the communication means used by companies to hire people. Using examples from newspapers, Sonal pointed out that companies were"selling the moon but that is not what they will eventually go and do."
