Reliance Industries Ltd has been recognised as the 'International Refiner of the Year' for 2005 by a leading global industry magazine.
The award was given by Hart's World Refining magazine at the 3rd Annual Hart's World Fuel Conference in San Francisco.
"Based on Reliance's commitment to serve the increasing needs of the growing Asia region, the installation of a new refining technology and a substantial capacity expansion plan and the company's commitment to protect fuel quality and leave an ever softer environmental footprint, we at Hart are pleased to recognise Reliance as the International Refiner of the year," Hart Energy Publishing executive VP Erederick L Potter said.
RIL has said that it is committed to expand its refining capacity by about 74 per cent or 400,000 barrels per day over its existing capacity of 540,000 barrels per day.
Additionally, the company is rolling out a major retail market expansion.
