Banks now have to accept/exchange soiled notes

The Reserve Bank of India has directed commercial banks to accept and exchange all types of soiled and mutilated notes from the general public.

The general public can also tender soiled and mutilated notes for exchange at the RBI counters or send them by post, an RBI release said in Mumbai on Thursday.
