The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the purchase of 68 aircraft by the country's flagship carrier Air India, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said on Thursday.
"In-principle approval has been given subject to final price negotiations by an empowered group of ministers (eGoM)," he said after the CCEA meeting.
The constitution of the eGoM would be decided by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
