Hexaware bags major Lufthansa contract

September 28, 2004 13:21 IST

Hexaware Technologies, a Chennai-based software company listed on Indian and London stock exchanges, has bagged a contract from German company Lufthansa Systems for providing maintenance services over a period of three years.

Hexaware has become the largest offshore partner of Lufthansa Systems, the wholly-owned IT subsidiary of Germany's Lufthansa group.

The deal is aimed at maintenance of Lufthansa System's mainframe based applications like ticketing, check-in and inventory.

"This win has further consolidated Hexaware's position as a leading offshore provider of mission critical application support services to the quality-conscious German industry," Sunil Surya, president Hexaware Technologies, told reporters in Frankfurt.

He, however, did not disclose the size of the deal but said Lufthansa Systems 'is an existing client of Hexaware.'

Hexaware is already working with Lufthansa Systems for two other maintenance contracts in CRM and cargo.

"Hexaware has strong expertise in key mainframe application technologies to enable us to provide better service to our customers," Dirk John, VP, airline services, Lufthansa Systems said.

Surya said the company expects the relationship with Lufthansa to grow further and would strengthen its position in two focus areas -- German market and airline and transportation services.
