LG to take on FMCG giants in India

From electronics to healthcare, LG has travelled a long way. LG Care is all set to take on FMCG giants in India -- Hindustan Lever, Colgate Palmolive and Proctor and Gamble.
LG Care, on July 16, launched its range of premium products, including toothpastes, shampoos, detergents, soaps and diapers in New Delhi. These products will be available in 200 different packs in different sizes and variants.
The Korean company later plans to launch floor cleaners, a range of cosmetics and hairstyling products.
The national launch of eight mainline consumer products was done in Mumbai on May 6, 2004. LG Care, part of the Korean chaebol, had launched its products in Chennai in June, 2004.
It has signed a memorandum of understanding with State Trading Corporation of India under which the state-owned company will provide financial assistance worth Rs 100 crore (Rs 1 billion) to help the Indian licensee to import products from LG Household and Healthcare, Korea.
LG Care launched its products in India through its sole licensee, Indian Household and Healthcare Ltd.
